Welcome to 8C U.S. History!

A bit about me:

I was born and raised in Springfield, IL. I graduated from Springfield High School in 1990 (GO SENATORS!!!) where I played football and baseball.

After high school I made a few college stops along the way before landing at Illinois State University in the fall of 1994. During my time at Illinois State, I met my lovely wife, Shannon, and we have 4 children (Nathan, Tyler, and twins - Aubrey and Brooke, who are all adults now).
Through our 30 years together, we have lived in the northern Chicago suburbs and Bloomington, IL, and now have been blessed by moving here to Tennessee, where we now live in Thompson's Station, and we could not be more pleased.
I became a teacher because I was never truly happy with any job I have ever worked. From sales to law enforcement, nothing clicked. Something was always missing. Finally, at the age of 45, I returned to school and obtained my teaching license at Eureka College (college home of President Ronald Reagen). Teaching and coaching are where I feel I belong. Not only because I am a middle schooler with 40 plus years of experience, but I also have a sense this is what I was put on this Earth to do as a profession. I believe I am able to connect with students in a host of different ways; primarily, to let the students know I am human, we all learn differently, and that middle school can be hard for some, and if I am able to make things a bit easier in some make or fashion, I will.
Lastly, I will do my absolute best to insure the safety and well-being of the students. To teach confidence, humility, responsibility, some US History, and that school can be a fun place to be
