The Band Butter Braid Fundraiser ends this week!
The Butter Braid fundraiser is our main band fundraiser for the year; it is also our only band fundraiser that we will have during the first semester this year. Thank you to all who have already participated in this important fundraiser! There is still time to participate if you have not already done so. Please submit all in-person (paper) order forms (with order payments) by Monday, 9/18/23. The final deadline is Wednesday, 9/20/23, via the online store.

Grade-Level Updates
8th Grade Band:
Announcement: The Siegel High School Band will be hosting their 8th Grade Band Night next week on Thursday, September 28, 2023. More information TBA; contact the High School Band Directors if you have additional questions: Mr. Ward & Mr. Mohnke

All students have received information about Mid-State Honor Band audition materials last week during band class (optional opportunity, this was also discussed during the August Band Parent Meeting). Any students interested in auditioning can still obtain the music from the band directors during band class.
In class this week: The written scale assessment (worksheet) for Concert Ab Major will be distributed in class on Monday (9/18/23) and is due Wednesday, 9/20/23.
7th Grade Band:
All students have received information about Mid-State Honor Band audition materials last week during band class (optional opportunity, this was also discussed during the August Band Parent Meeting). 6th Grade Band:
We are looking forward to the 6th Grade Band's first performance (for parents/immediate family members) next Monday, September 25! Additional information will be sent via "Remind" message this week.
In class this week: Students will continue learning how to play their first notes on their instruments. Individual assessments will occur to ensure all students are creating characteristic sounds on their instruments.

- During School: Pep Band performs during school at the Pep Rally (students can wear their grade level t-shirt color or the Band T-shirt).
- After School: Pep Band performs at the Home Football Game (Band T-Shirt for the game).

Concert Bb Scale Test (Playing Test) will continue in class Monday and Tuesday. The Concert Eb Scale written assignment will be distributed to students on Monday and is due Wednesday.

- On Tuesday (9/5), Pep Band students will dismiss at regular school dismissal (no after-school practice; Pep Band will not stay after school). Parents will need to drop off their Pep Band students at the band room at a specific time on Tuesday (9/5) (see detailed announcement). Pep Band students need to plan to eat dinner before they arrive on Tuesday (9/5) (dinner will not be provided).
Band Butter Braid Fundraiser starts Wednesday, 9/6/23. Students will bring home additional info. to parents on Wednesday.

Students will continue learning how to read and perform various 16th notes patterns as well as notes in the Concert Bb & Eb scales. Students will apply their knowledge to sight read various pieces of music (potential concert selections).
